The Upper Class
The flourishing upper class was made up of mainly people with political power. This included the king, advisors, nobles, and church officials. They lived more in the cities in fine houses which had many rooms and had high-priced furniture and decorations such as elaborate tugs or paintings. Fashion-wise, beaver hats were the new style in which every person in the upper class would want to own.
These people ate a lot of meat with a lot of herbs and spices to conceal the stale taste because of the limited ways to preserve food. Fruits and vegetables were eaten cooked. The English used spoons and knives and eventually forks. Trade allowed the nobles to introduce different types of food from around the world. The foreign foods include pineapples, maize, potatoes, coffee, tea, and chocolate.
